Ronald Hudson (born February 4, 1957) is an American artist, bassist, composer, and music producer. He is famous for his hit song "West Coast Poplock". This song was later used in "California Love" by Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur.

Ronnie Hudson's Early Life

Ronnie Hudson grew up in Washington, D.C.. He started playing music at age sixteen, learning bass guitar with his friend Charles Harrington. Later, he formed his own band called Chapter One. He also played with Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers.

Hudson then moved to Memphis, Tennessee. There, he became a bassist for Stax Records, a famous music label. At Stax, he played on many important recordings. He toured with Isaac Hayes for the Grammy-winning soundtrack of the 1970s movie Shaft. He also worked on Isaac Hayes's multi-platinum album Black Moses. Ronnie Hudson also recorded songs with Rufus Thomas and Luther Ingram.
