A Look Back in Time: History of Rorschacherberg
The history of Rorschacherberg goes back a long way! Some of the small villages, called hamlets, that make up Rorschacherberg today were first mentioned in the 1200s and 1300s. The name Ro(r)schacherberg itself appeared in the 1400s.
Exploring the Land: Geography of Rorschacherberg
Rorschacherberg covers an area of about 7.1 square kilometers (about 2.7 square miles). A large part of this land, almost half, is used for farming. About a quarter of the area is covered by forests. The rest of the land has buildings, roads, or is non-productive like rivers or lakes.
The municipality is located in the Rorschach area. It's not one big central town, but rather a group of several smaller settlements. It sits on the hills above the town of Rorschach and even reaches Lake Constance near a place called Unterstaad. You can find many small villages here, like Koblen, Eschlen, and Hüttenmoos.
