Rosedale is a cool neighborhood in New York City. It's located in the southeastern part of Queens, which is one of New York City's five main areas. Rosedale sits right along the southern edge of Queens. It also borders Nassau County, which is a neighboring area outside the city.

Rosedale's Past: From Farms to Homes
Rosedale started out as part of a larger area called Springfield Gardens. Back then, it was mostly farmland. To help people get around, the Long Island Rail Road was built. This train line connected the area to other parts of Long Island.
In the 1930s, Rosedale began to change a lot. It quickly grew from quiet farms into a busy suburban community. It was once known by an older name, Foster's Meadow.
During the 1970s, many families from African American and Caribbean backgrounds moved to Rosedale. Before this, the community was mostly made up of Irish, Italian, and Jewish families. There were some difficult times as the neighborhood changed. People worked to make Rosedale a welcoming place for everyone. Today, Rosedale is home to many people from Caribbean countries.

Rosedale is on the eastern edge of New York City. It shares a border with Valley Stream in Nassau County. To its north, you'll find Cambria Heights. To the west are Laurelton, Springfield Gardens, and John F. Kennedy International Airport. South of Rosedale are Inwood and Lawrence, both in Nassau County.
Many important roads run through Rosedale. These include Francis Lewis Boulevard, Conduit Avenue, Cross Island Parkway, and the Belt Parkway. Other roads like Rockaway Boulevard, Sunrise Highway, and Merrick Boulevard help connect Queens and Nassau Counties.
Small Areas: Warnerville and Meadowmere
Inside Rosedale, there are two smaller neighborhoods: Warnerville and Meadowmere. They both use the 11422 ZIP Code, just like the rest of Rosedale.
Warnerville is surrounded by Jamaica Bay on three sides. It's very close to John F. Kennedy International Airport. This tiny area has only three streets. Meadowmere is bordered by Nassau County. It has four streets and six blocks.
