Four of the Saanich First Nations came together to create a special school. These nations are Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tseycum, and Tsawout. In 1989, they opened the ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱ Tribal School.

What the School Teaches

The school offers classes for students from preschool all the way up to grade 10. It also has an adult learning center next door. Here, adults can take classes too. A very important part of the school's teaching is the SENĆOŦEN language. This is the traditional language of the W̱SÁNEĆ people. Students also learn about W̱SÁNEĆ culture.

The school follows the regular curriculum set by the province. But it also makes sure to include the unique language and culture of the Saanich people. This helps young people connect with their heritage.

A Community Hub

The ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱ Tribal School is more than just a place for learning. It is also a central spot for community events. People gather there for celebrations, meetings, and other important activities. This makes the school a vital part of the Saanich community.
