Sanctuary Cove is a special town in Queensland, Australia. It's a "gated community" located within the suburb of Hope Island on the Gold Coast. This means it has controlled entrances and is a private place to live.
Sanctuary Cove is designed to be a complete living area. It has its own shops and fun places to visit. It also offers many things you would find at a holiday resort. These include places for boats and golf courses. It was one of the first places like this in Australia.

Where is Sanctuary Cove?
Sanctuary Cove covers a large area of land, about 474 hectares. It is located south of the Coomera River, near where the river meets the sea. Coomera Island is to the east of Sanctuary Cove. The community is still growing as new areas are built.
Golf Courses
The community has two large 18-hole golf courses. They are called The Palms and The Pines. The Palms course is open for anyone to play. The Pines course is only for members and guests staying at the resort.
A Look Back in Time
Sanctuary Cove was created by a person named Mike Gore. It was first shown to the public in 1986. The official opening happened in 1988. A famous TV host, Clive James, was there for the opening. He said it was a "purpose-built hideaway" for Australians. The singer Frank Sinatra also performed at the opening. This was special because he had said he would never return to Australia after a visit in 1974.
In 1989, a Japanese company bought the resort. Later, in 1992, the company faced money problems. In 2002, another company called Mulpha Australia Limited bought the property. A new building for the golf club opened on April 9, 2010.
The Resort Hotel
A fancy hotel called InterContinental operates at Sanctuary Cove. This hotel used to be known as the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove. InterContinental took over running the hotel in late 2012. The hotel was updated during the COVID-19 pandemic. This update cost $6 million.
The hotel has 251 rooms for guests. These rooms are in different parts that spread out from the main building. The main building has the front desk, two restaurants, and a bar. Outside, there is a warm pool with columns. Beyond that, there is another pool and a sandy beach area.
The Marina
Sanctuary Cove also has a marina. This is a place where boats can dock. It has space for 300 boats. This includes very large boats called superyachts, which can be up to 36 meters long.
There are also other places to eat at the community's Marine Village. These places offer many different kinds of food.
Fun Events
Sanctuary Cove hosts some exciting events every year.
Boat Show
It is home to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. This big event has been held every year since 1988. People come to see all kinds of boats.
Golf Tournament
The Sanctuary Cove Classic is also held here. This is a golf tournament that takes place at the Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club.
