Geography

Sardis is found in the southwestern part of Mason County and the eastern part of Robertson County. Most of the city is within Mason County.

U.S. Route 62 is a main road that goes right through the middle of Sardis. If you travel northeast on this road, you will reach Maysville in about 17 miles. Maysville is the main town, or county seat, for Mason County. If you go west for about 5 miles, you will get to Mount Olivet, which is the county seat for Robertson County.

The United States Census Bureau says that Sardis covers about 1 square mile of land. Only a tiny part of this area, about 0.1%, is water. Sardis is built on a high area of land called a ridge. Water from this ridge flows in different directions. Some water goes north into Smith Branch and Shannon Creek. These creeks eventually join the North Fork of the Licking River. Other water flows south into Five Lick Creek. This creek connects to the main Licking River, which then flows northwest to the Ohio River near Covington.

The part of Sardis that is in Mason County is also part of the Maysville micropolitan area. This means it's connected to the Maysville area for economic and social reasons.
