Scanlon is a small city located in Carlton County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 987 people lived there. Scanlon is a friendly place, just east of Cloquet and about 18 miles southwest of the larger city of Duluth.

History of Scanlon

Scanlon got its name from Michael Joseph Scanlon. He was the president of a company called the Brooks-Scanlon Lumber Company. The city's post office first opened in 1901. It stayed open for many years until 1954. The city officially became a city on December 30, 1902.
