Sean Corcoran's Art Career

Sean Corcoran has explored many different art forms throughout his career. He has shown his work in digital art, photography, and even mapmaking. He also works in interior design and is a member of The Institute of Designers of Ireland. Sean lives in Waterford, Ireland with his family.

The Art Hand and The Salvage Shop

Sean is the artistic director of The Art Hand. This is an art school in Waterford. It offers fun art courses in stained glass, mosaic, digital art, film, and painting.

Before The Art Hand, Sean was a designer and co-owner of a place called The Salvage Shop. He ran it with his father, Jim. An art critic once called it an "emporium of the imagination." This means it was a place full of creative and imaginative things. The Salvage Shop even helped a theater company with a play that was inspired by their unique store.

Exhibitions and Projects

Sean Corcoran has had several solo art shows. These include Bandsaw and Glasscutter (1996), Streetscape and Other Shapes (1999), Photo Distortions (2005), and Lost and Found (2006). He has also been part of many group exhibitions. In 2000, he worked with American artist Ernest Ruckle for a special art show in New York City.

Around 2015, Sean was working on exciting photography projects. These included a series he called Drive by Shootings and another called The Face of a City. His official website shows many of his artworks and has a journal he updates regularly. In 2009, he finished a map, guide, and DVD about Omey Island in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. He even says he saw a mysterious creature called a Dobhar-chú, or master otter, in the lake on the island!

Sean also creates huge and beautiful beach murals. He often makes these amazing sand artworks on the beaches at Copper Coast Geopark. His creative works have received a lot of attention from the media.
