Sedrick Irvin (born March 30, 1978) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at Raw 7v7. Irvin used to be the head football coach at Miami Senior High School and Westminster Christian School in Palmetto Bay, Florida. He played college football at Michigan State University and later played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions.

Early Football Days

Sedrick Irvin played high school football at Miami Southridge Senior High School and Miami Senior High School. In 1995, he was named a USA Today All-American, which means he was one of the best high school players in the country.

He then played college football at Michigan State University. He was known for his amazing moves, like "jukes" and "stutter steps," which helped him avoid defenders. He ran for over 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons there. In 1997, he ran for 1,211 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. The next year, in 1998, he ran for 1,167 yards and scored 10 touchdowns.

After his junior year, Irvin decided to leave Michigan State. He was the fourth-leading rusher in the school's history when he entered the National Football League Draft.

Playing in the Pros

In the 1999 NFL draft, Sedrick Irvin was picked in the fourth round. Some scouts thought he was too slow for the NFL. He joined the Detroit Lions and even led the team in touchdowns during his first year. He was a backup player to James Stewart.

After two years, Irvin faced many injuries, and the Lions decided to let him go. He later signed with the Miami Dolphins, hoping to play in the NFL again, but he didn't get into any games. He also played in other leagues, like NFL Europe and the Arena Football League. In these leagues, he tried new positions like linebacker and fullback.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Sedrick Irvin became a football coach. He started as an assistant coach at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami. From 2008 to 2009, he worked at the University of Alabama under famous head coach Nick Saban.

During his acceptance speech for the Heisman Trophy, Alabama running back Mark Ingram II thanked Irvin. Ingram said Irvin helped him a lot during his college career. On January 14, 2010, Irvin became the running backs coach for the Memphis Tigers.

Later, on March 6, 2011, he was hired as the new head football coach for Westminster Christian School. In April 2016, Sedrick Irvin joined the coaching staff at East Carolina University. He has continued coaching at various high schools and now coaches Raw 7v7.

Personal Life

Sedrick Irvin is married and has two sons. He is also the cousin of Michael Irvin, who was a famous wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Michael Irvin is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
