About Sellicks Hill
Sellicks Hill is a suburb that sits partly in two different local government areas. These are like local councils that help manage the area. One part is in the City of Onkaparinga, and the other is in the District Council of Yankalilla. This makes it a unique place!
A Look Back in Time
Long before Europeans arrived in South Australia, the land around Sellicks Hill was home to the Kaurna people. They lived on the Adelaide Plains and along the western side of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The Kaurna people have a rich history and deep connection to this land.
Early European Settlement
After the British began to settle South Australia, the Sellicks Hill area also saw changes. A post office, which helps send and receive mail, was opened in Sellick's Hill on 2 July 1860. This was an important step for the community as it grew.
