Servando Carrasco, born on August 13, 1988, is a former professional soccer player from the United States. He played as a defensive midfielder, which means he helped protect his team's goal.
Playing Career
Servando Carrasco spent his early years living in Tijuana, Mexico. Later, he attended St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California. Until he was 19, he played soccer for his high school team and for San Diego Surf.
During this time, he was recognized as the Western League Player of the Year. He also earned the CIF Player of the Year award. The San Diego Union-Tribune named him their All-County Player of the Year. Servando also took part in special programs like the Olympic Development Program.
College Soccer
In 2007, Servando Carrasco received a scholarship to play soccer at the University of California, Berkeley. In his first year, he scored two goals and made three assists. An assist is when a player helps set up a goal for a teammate.
In 2008, Carrasco was named to the All-Pac-10 second team. He started almost every game and scored three goals. He also had seven assists that season. One of his assists led to the winning goal against Oregon State University.
Even though he had an ankle injury in 2009, Carrasco was still chosen for the All-Pac-10 second team again. He scored one goal that year.
In 2010, Carrasco was a co-captain for the Berkeley team. He was recognized as one of the best players in his region and in the Pac-10 conference. He scored seven goals and had three assists in his final college year. Over his four years at UC Berkeley, he scored a total of 13 goals.
Professional Soccer
On January 13, 2011, Servando Carrasco was chosen by Seattle Sounders FC in the MLS SuperDraft. This is a special event where professional soccer teams pick new players. He officially joined Seattle on March 2, 2011. He played his first professional game on March 19 against the New York Red Bulls.
Carrasco scored his first professional goal for Seattle on June 8, 2013. It was a penalty kick that helped his team win 3–2 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Later, he was traded to different teams. On September 13, 2013, he moved from Seattle to the Houston Dynamo. After that, he played for Sporting Kansas City in 2015. On July 20, 2015, Carrasco joined Orlando City SC. He scored his second career goal for Orlando on April 9, 2017. This goal, a header from a corner kick, helped Orlando win 1–0 against the New York Red Bulls.
At the end of 2017, Carrasco moved to LA Galaxy. He signed with the club on January 11, 2018. After his time with LA Galaxy, he signed with Fort Lauderdale CF in 2020.
Personal Life
Servando Carrasco was born in the United States. However, he spent most of his early childhood in Tijuana, Mexico. When he was seven years old, his family moved back to the United States. His mother, Gloria, has bravely overcome breast cancer twice.
On December 31, 2014, Servando Carrasco married Alex Morgan. Alex Morgan is a very famous professional soccer player for the United States women's national team. Their first child, a daughter named Charlie Elena Carrasco, was born on May 7, 2020. In September 2024, Alex Morgan shared that they were expecting their second child. Their son, Enzo, was born on March 30, 2025.
