Seven Wells Hill is a well-known hill located in the beautiful Cotswolds area of England. It sits right on the border between two counties: Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. This hill reaches a height of 319 meters (about 1,047 feet). It is the second tallest point in Gloucestershire.
Exploring Seven Wells Hill
Seven Wells Hill is the highest part of a long ridge that runs from north to south. A ridge is like a long, narrow line of hills or mountains. This hill is about 3 kilometers (2 miles) south-east of the village of Broadway. It is also about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) north-east of a small village called Snowshill.
What You Can See
The top of Seven Wells Hill has woods on its north and west sides. But the east and south sides are open, offering great views. The northern part of the ridge is known as Broadway Hill. From here, you can see far across the countryside.
If you look to the west, the land drops steeply down through wooded hills. To the east, the ground slopes much more gently. This area is mostly open farmland, where crops are grown.
County Borders
The border between Gloucestershire and Worcestershire runs along the top of the ridge. It passes very close to the hill's highest point, just about 100 meters (330 feet) to the west. The actual highest point, or summit, of Seven Wells Hill is found at the bottom of a wall on its south side.
Broadway Tower
About 1,200 meters (0.75 miles) north of the summit of Seven Wells Hill, you will find a famous building called Broadway Tower. This tower is a type of building known as a folly. A folly is a building built mainly for decoration, often designed to look like an old castle or ruin. Broadway Tower is a popular landmark in the area.
