Shahnaz Pahlavi was born on 27 October 1940. She is the first child of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was the last Shah (King) of Iran. Her mother was Fawzia of Egypt, the Shah's first wife.

Early Life and Family
Shahnaz Pahlavi was born in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. This was in 1940, a year before her father became the Shah. She is the only child of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his first wife, Queen Fawzia.
Her Royal Family Tree
Shahnaz has four half-siblings from her father's third marriage to Farah Pahlavi. These are Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, Princess Farahnaz Pahlavi, Prince Ali Reza Pahlavi II, and Princess Leila Pahlavi.
Her grandparents on her mother's side were King Fuad I and Queen Nazli of Egypt. On her father's side, her grandparents were Reza Shah and Queen Tadj ol-Molouk of Iran. Shahnaz is also related to King Farouk I of Egypt, who was her uncle. This means she is a cousin of the last Egyptian king, Fuad II.
Education and Schooling
Shahnaz Pahlavi went to school in Europe. She studied at a boarding school in Belgium called the Lycée Léonie de Waha. After that, she continued her education in Switzerland.
Personal Life and Marriages
Shahnaz Pahlavi married twice. Her first marriage happened when she was 16 years old.
First Marriage
On 11 October 1957, Shahnaz married Ardeshir Zahedi at the Golestan Palace in Tehran. Ardeshir Zahedi was an important person in Iran's government. He served as Iran's foreign minister and was also the Iranian ambassador to the United States two times.
Shahnaz and Ardeshir Zahedi had one daughter together. Her name is Mahnaz Zahedi, and she was born on 2 December 1958. The couple later divorced in 1964.
Second Marriage
Shahnaz Pahlavi married again in February 1971. She married Khosrow Jahanbani in Paris, France. Their marriage lasted until Khosrow Jahanbani passed away on 13 April 2014.
Shahnaz and Khosrow Jahanbani had two children. Their son, Keykhosrow, was born on 20 November 1971. Their daughter, Fawzia, was born in 1973.
Business Interests
During the time her father was the Shah of Iran, Shahnaz also had business interests. She invested in farms and companies that assembled Honda bicycles and motorcycles.
Life After the Revolution
After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, Shahnaz Pahlavi moved to Switzerland. She has lived there ever since. She holds Swiss citizenship. In December 2013, the Egyptian government also granted her Egyptian citizenship.

Shahnaz Pahlavi received several honours during the time of the Imperial Iranian government:

- Grand Cross of the Order of the Pleiades, 1st class
- 25th Anniversary medal
- 2,500 year celebration of the Persian Empire medal
