Shahnaz Pahlavi (Persian: شهناز پهلوی), born on October 27, 1940, is the first child of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was once the Shah (king) of Iran. Her mother was Fawzia of Egypt.

Early Life and Education

Shahnaz Pahlavi was born in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, on October 27, 1940. This was a year before her father became the Shah. She is the only child of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his first wife, Queen Fawzia.

Shahnaz has four half-siblings from her father's third marriage to Farah Pahlavi. These include Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, Princess Farahnaz Pahlavi, Prince Ali Reza Pahlavi II, and Princess Leila Pahlavi.

Her grandparents on her mother's side were King Fuad I and Queen Nazli of Egypt. Her paternal grandparents were Reza Shah and Queen Tadj ol-Molouk of Iran. She is also the niece of King Farouk I of Egypt. This means she is a cousin to the last Egyptian king, Fuad II.

Shahnaz Pahlavi went to school in Europe. She attended a boarding school in Belgium called the Lycée Léonie de Waha in Liège. After that, she continued her education in Switzerland.

Personal Life and Family

Shahnaz Pahlavi married for the first time when she was sixteen years old. Her father had hoped she would marry King Faisal of Iraq, but this did not happen because she did not want to.

Her first marriage was to Ardeshir Zahedi on October 11, 1957. The wedding took place at Golestan Palace in Tehran. Ardeshir Zahedi later became Iran's foreign minister and served as Iran's ambassador to the United States twice. Shahnaz and Ardeshir first met in Germany in 1955. They had one daughter together, named Mahnaz Zahedi, who was born on December 2, 1958. Shahnaz and Ardeshir divorced in 1964.

Later, Shahnaz married Khosrow Jahanbani in February 1971. Their wedding was held at the Iranian Embassy in Paris. This marriage lasted until Khosrow Jahanbani passed away on April 13, 2014. They had two children: a son named Keykhosrow, born on November 20, 1971, and a daughter named Fawzia, born in 1973.

During her father's time as Shah, Shahnaz was involved in some businesses. She invested in farms and in factories that put together Honda bicycles and motorcycles in Iran.

Life After the Revolution

After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, Shahnaz Pahlavi moved to Switzerland. She has been living there ever since. She is a citizen of Switzerland. In December 2013, the Egyptian government also granted her Egyptian citizenship.
