Leila's Early Life

Leila Pahlavi was born in Tehran, Iran, on March 27, 1970. She was the fourth and youngest child of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Her mother was Empress Farah Pahlavi. Leila had two older brothers and an older sister. She also had an older half-sister.

Life After Leaving Iran

Leila Pahlavi was nine years old when her family had to leave Iran. This happened because of the Iranian Revolution in 1979. After her father passed away in Egypt in 1980, her family moved to the United States.

Leila went to the United Nations International School in New York City. She later graduated from Rye Country Day School in 1988. She was very good at languages. She spoke Farsi, English, and French fluently. She also knew some Spanish and Italian.

She often traveled between her home in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Paris. Her mother was living in Paris at that time. Leila studied literature and philosophy at Brown University. Some reports say she graduated in 1992. However, other sources suggest she left university early due to health challenges. She also worked as a model for the designer Valentino.
