Shonn Greene (born August 21, 1985) is a former American football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). Greene played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He earned many honors, including the Doak Walker Award in 2008. The New York Jets picked him in the 2009 NFL draft. After four seasons with the Jets, he played two more seasons for the Tennessee Titans.

Shonn Greene's Football Journey
Early Life and High School Football
Shonn Greene was born in Sicklerville, New Jersey. He went to Winslow Township High School in Atco, New Jersey. He played for the Winslow Eagles high school football team. He was the starting running back and linebacker during his junior and senior years.
In his junior year, Greene ran for 1,267 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. He was named first-team all-conference and all-state. As a senior, he gained 1,378 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also made 191 tackles on defense.
College Career at Iowa
Greene attended the University of Iowa. He played for coach Kirk Ferentz's Iowa Hawkeyes football team. He missed the 2007 season because of academic issues. He went to Kirkwood Community College to improve his grades. He returned to the university in 2008.
Greene had an amazing season in 2008. He won the Doak Walker Award, given to the best college running back. He was the first Iowa player to win this award. He was also named a unanimous All-American. He finished the season with 1,850 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.
After the Hawkeyes won the 2009 Outback Bowl, Greene decided to enter the 2009 NFL draft. He was the only player that year to rush for over 100 yards in every game.

Playing in the NFL
New York Jets Years
The New York Jets drafted Greene in the third round of the 2009 NFL draft. This was the 65th pick overall. He made his regular season debut after an injury to teammate Leon Washington. In his first game against the Oakland Raiders, Greene ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns. The Jets won 38–0.
In a playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Greene ran for 135 yards and a touchdown. His best playoff game was against the San Diego Chargers. He rushed for 128 yards and scored a 53-yard touchdown. This helped the Jets reach the AFC Championship game.
In 2010, Greene became the backup running back to LaDainian Tomlinson. He scored his first touchdown of the season in a win against the Minnesota Vikings. He also scored a game-closing touchdown against the Patriots in a playoff game.
In 2011, Greene became the starting running back for the Jets. He rushed for 26 yards in his first start against the Dallas Cowboys. He had 112 yards in a win over the San Diego Chargers. Greene finished the year with 1,054 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. He also had 88 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Redskins. The next week, he gained 129 yards and 1 touchdown against the Chiefs.
In 2012, Greene had a career-high game against the Indianapolis Colts. He ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns. The Jets won 35–9. For the 2012 season, Greene rushed for 1,063 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Tennessee Titans Years
On March 13, 2013, Greene signed a three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. In his first game with the Titans, he rushed for 18 yards before injuring his knee. He missed five weeks of play.
Later in the season, Greene rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown against the Rams. He also had a 28-yard catch. In Week 14, he rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos. Greene finished the 2013 season with 295 yards and 4 touchdowns.
In Week 1 of the 2014 NFL season, Greene rushed for 71 yards in a win against the Chiefs. He played against his former team, the New York Jets, and rushed for 50 yards. In the final game of the season, against the Indianapolis Colts, Greene had his best game. He rushed for a career-long 52 yards on one play. He finished that game with 94 yards.
On June 16, 2015, Greene was released from the Titans.
