Shonto (which means Shą́ą́ʼtóhí in the Navajo language) is a small community in Navajo County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Navajo Nation. In 2020, about 494 people lived there. Shonto is known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes.

Exploring Shonto's Location
Shonto covers an area of about 4.6 square miles (11.8 square kilometers), and all of it is land. A special natural spring is found in the local Shonto Canyon. This canyon connects to other canyons that reach all the way to Navajo Mountain, which you can see from Shonto.
