Siobhán Emma Donaghy (born on June 14, 1984) is an English singer and songwriter. She is famous for being a founding member of the girl group Sugababes.

Siobhán left Sugababes in 2001. She then released her first solo album, Revolution in Me, in 2003. Her second album, Ghosts, came out in 2007 and was praised by critics.

In 2012, Siobhán reunited with her former Sugababes bandmates, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan. They could not use the name Sugababes at first. So, they released music as Mutya Keisha Siobhan. In 2019, they got the legal rights to the Sugababes name back.

Early Life and Discovering Music

Siobhán Emma Donaghy was born in London on June 14, 1984. Her parents are from Ireland. She has two sisters, Beibhinn and Róisín. Róisín works as Siobhán's make-up artist.

Siobhán was discovered by Ron Tom. He used to manage the group All Saints. Later, he became the manager for Sugababes.

Music Career Highlights

Starting with Sugababes (1997–2001)

Siobhán signed her first music contract when she was 12 years old. This was with music manager Ron Tom. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do then. But she loved singing and went with it. Her mother supported her, but her father was worried about the music industry.

Ron Tom also signed Mutya Buena as a solo artist. Siobhán and Mutya performed together. They later started recording music. Mutya then invited her friend Keisha Buchanan to a recording session. Ron Tom suggested the three girls form a band called Sugababes.

Sugababes signed with London Records. Siobhán was 16 when their first song, "Overload", came out in 2000. This song was nominated for a Brit Award. It sold over 231,000 copies in the UK. It was also a top five hit in many other countries.

Their first album, One Touch, was released in 2000. It sold over 226,000 copies in the UK. The album had three more popular songs: "New Year", "Run for Cover", and "Soul Sound".

During the tour for One Touch, there were reports of disagreements within the band. Siobhán said she and Keisha did not get along. She felt like the odd one out. Siobhán left Sugababes in August 2001 during a tour in Japan. She later said she was "pushed out" of the group.

Solo Music Journey (2002–2009)

After leaving Sugababes, Siobhán started writing music. This helped her feel better. She first performed under the name "Shanghai Nobody." This was an anagram of her name. In March 2003, she released a song called "Nothing but Song" under this name. She did not want to be known only as "the girl who left the Sugababes."

For her first official single, "Overrated", in June 2003, Siobhán used her real name again. "Overrated" reached number 19 in the UK charts. Her next single, "Twist of Fate", came out in September 2003.

Siobhán's first solo album, Revolution in Me, was released in September 2003. It reached number 117 on the UK Albums Chart. She worked with producers Cameron McVey and Marlon Roudette on this album. Siobhán helped write all twelve songs on the album.

In 2005, Siobhán sang backing vocals for other artists. She then signed with a new record label, Parlophone. Her second album, Ghosts, was released in June 2007. It reached number 92 in the UK. Siobhán recorded this album in a small studio in France. She said she wanted the album to do well so she could keep making music.

From 2007 to 2008, Siobhán acted in the musical RENT in London's West End. She played the main role of Mimi. This was her first time acting in the West End.

In 2009, Siobhán said she had no plans to release more solo albums for a while. She felt the business side of music was difficult. However, she later said she was working on new music.

Mutya Keisha Siobhan and Sugababes Reunion (2010–Present)

In 2012, news spread that the original Sugababes line-up would reunite. Emeli Sandé, a Scottish singer, confirmed she had written new songs for Mutya, Keisha, and Siobhán. In April 2012, it was reported they signed a record deal.

In July 2012, it was officially confirmed that the group had reformed. They used the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan. They were writing songs for a new album. On August 7, Siobhán tweeted that the album was finished. She also said she was fully focused on Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

In February 2019, it was confirmed that a leak of their songs had caused the album to be delayed. In August 2019, Siobhán, Mutya, and Keisha reunited to sing "Flowers". For this song, they were credited as Sugababes. This was the first time Siobhán had performed under the Sugababes name since 2001.

Sugababes have headlined many festivals since then, including Glastonbury in 2022. They also supported Westlife and Take That on tour. In October 2022, they released The Lost Tapes. This album included songs that had not been released before.

In December 2023, a special 20th-anniversary edition of Siobhán's solo album Revolution in Me was released.
