How to Play Sokker Manager
The main idea of Sokker is to manage your own football team. You want to make your team better and move up in the leagues. You also need to make sure your club doesn't run out of money!
To do this, you buy and sell players. You try to make your team perform its best while earning money. This money helps you improve your club. You also use a special tool called the tactical editor. This helps you use your players' skills in the best way.
Sokker is special because it has a 2D Flash match viewer. Since 2012, it also has a new 3D Flash Match Viewer. This lets you watch your team play. You can see how your managing skills work in an animated football match.
Meet Your Players
Each player in Sokker has 8 main skills. These skills decide how well they play on the field.
- Stamina: How long a player can play before getting tired.
- Pace: How fast the player can run.
- Technique: How good a player is at controlling the ball. This includes passing, dribbling, and not mis-kicking.
- Passing: How accurate a player's passes are. This means sending the ball in the right direction and with the right power.
- Keeper: This skill is only for goalkeepers. It shows how good they are at saving shots.
- Defender: How good a player is at tackling opponents and taking the ball from them.
- Playmaking: Players with high playmaking choose who to pass to quickly. They also pick the best-positioned teammate.
- Striker: How accurate and powerful a player's shots are.
Players also have other things that affect them during games and their careers:
- Form: Shows if a player can use all their skills. Players who are "out of form" play worse.
- Team Discipline: How well a player follows your tactics during a match. This depends on their experience and teamwork.
- Talent: A hidden ability that helps players improve their skills faster.
- Age: Players get one year older after each season. Younger players improve faster. Players in their 30s might start to get worse.
- Height: Taller players are better at winning balls in the air. Shorter players are quicker at starting to run.
- Weight: Players who are too light or too heavy might run slower. Heavy players also get tired faster.
Youth Academy: Training Future Stars
In Sokker, you can choose to have a youth academy. This is where young players get coached. These "juniors" are too young or don't have enough skill for official matches yet.
Your youth academy can train up to 30 young players. They stay for a certain number of weeks. During this time, they learn and improve their skills. You need a Junior Coach to train them. The coach's skill decides how fast your juniors improve. They also decide when a player is ready for your main team.
You only see an overall skill level for juniors. You won't see their individual skills until you sign them to your main team. But you can play them in youth matches. This helps you guess their skills and what positions they might play.
Player Training
Players need to train to make their skills better. For most training, a player needs to have played in a specific position during the week. This can be in a friendly game, a cup game, or a league game.
A player who plays in the same position twice in a week will train better. Playing in an official match also helps more than just a friendly game. If a player plays in two different positions, only the last match counts for training.
Each player trains at a different speed. This depends on their hidden talent and the coach. Players with high talent train faster. When you pick a coach, their individual skills are most important. Choose a head coach who is good at training the skill you want to improve.
Tactical Editor: Plan Your Wins
The Tactics Editor helps you create your team's plans and formations for matches. You can find it on the match orders page for any future game. Or you can go to the training page and click "Tactics."
Sokker has some default tactics you can use. But you can also create your own! The Tactical Editor is what makes Sokker different for many players. It has 35 squares, so you can create endless tactics. You can place your players exactly where you want them. You can save up to 100 different tactics. The tactics you choose can decide if you win or lose a game!
Your Team's Stadium
Every team has a stadium for home games. Making your stadium the right size and choosing the best stand types is important. It helps your team earn money. Ticket sales are a big part of your team's income.
There are four types of stands:
- Grass (standing): Simple standing areas by the field.
- Terraces: Standing places made of concrete. These are cheap, but you can't build a stadium only with terraces.
- Benches: Sitting places, but not as comfy as seats.
- Seats: The most expensive and comfortable stands. They cost more to build but can bring in more fans.
Many things affect how many fans come to a match. These include how happy your supporters are, the type of match, your supporters' club size, ticket prices, weather, and what kind of stands fans prefer. You can change ticket prices from £1 to £150.
Grass and Field
In 2012, Sokker added new features for the playing field. You can now change things about the grass!
- Grass Type: You can pick the type of grass for your stadium. Different types of grass have different best conditions.
- Grass Mow: You can choose how your field looks. You can have no special mow, or diagonal lines. Plus users can even put their team logos on the field!
- Grass Condition: The grass gets weaker after each match. It needs time to recover. It grows best when it's not too hot or too wet. You can pay for pitch maintenance to make it recover faster. Or you can lay new grass. If the grass is in bad condition, the ball might bounce strangely. Players might also get injured more often.
- Pitch Size: You can change the size of your pitch. This new feature can help you use your tactics better. Changing the pitch size costs money, depending on your grass type and mow.
Plus Features: Extra Fun!
Sokker is free, but it also has a premium feature called "Plus." Buying Plus unlocks extra features that help managers. It doesn't give you an unfair advantage, though. As the game says, "They just get more fun from the game - if you are not a subscriber, you have the same chance to achieve your goals in Sokker, as those with Plus."
With Plus, you get things like match kits, ways to track training effects, graphs, and unlimited access to watch all matches.
Sokker Community
The Sokker community goes beyond the Sokker.org website. There are many other websites and tools made by fans. These make the Sokker experience even better.
There are also many forums where players can talk. There are international forums, national forums, and forums for different leagues. This helps Sokker users communicate and have more fun playing the game.
Helpful Tools from Fans
Sokker welcomes programs and scripts made by other players. These can be standalone apps or browser tools. Sokker provides data that these tools can use.
Many tools help managers organize team data. They can show it in graphs or save it. Examples include oSokker and Android apps. There are also special tools for national team managers, like NT Database. These help them organize national team players.
