South Kearny, also known as Kearny Point, is a busy area in the western part of Hudson County, New Jersey. It's located at the northern end of Newark Bay, within the town of Kearny, New Jersey. This area is part of a larger piece of land called New Barbadoes Neck. Other parts of Kearny, like the Uplands and the Meadows, are also on this land.

Kearny Point is important because it sits where the Hackensack River meets the bay on its east side. The Passaic River flows along its western edge. Across the Passaic River is a similar industrial area in Newark. Much of South Kearny is a special area called a Foreign-Trade Zone 49. This means certain goods can be stored or processed there without regular customs rules.

In the past, many important routes crossed South Kearny. These included the Newark and New York Railroad Bridge, the Newark Plank Road, and the Morris Canal. Today, two major roads, the Lincoln Highway and the Pulaski Skyway, go through South Kearny. A special ramp from the Pulaski Skyway was even built to help businesses grow here. You can find many large buildings and businesses in South Kearny. For example, there's River Terminal, a huge warehouse and distribution center. This place used to be a big factory for Western Electric, called Kearny Works.

South Kearny has also been a filming location! The movie Road Movie was filmed here in 1974. More recently, two film and television studios, Palisades Stages and 10 Basin Studios, opened on Kearny Point in the 2000s.
