Southern Athletic Conference of Indiana facts for kids
The Southern Athletic Conference is a group of high schools in south-central Indiana that compete in sports. It's approved by the IHSAA, which is like the main sports organization for high schools in Indiana. This conference includes schools from Clark, Harrison, and Jackson Counties.
The Southern Athletic Conference started in 1974 with just four schools. Over the next five years, it grew to eight schools as other local sports groups closed down. Since then, two schools have left the conference. They both joined the Mid-Southern Conference. Some schools used to be part of the Southern Athletic Conference and another conference at the same time. But by 1986, all schools were only members of one conference.
Who are the Schools in the Conference?
The Southern Athletic Conference has several schools that are current members. These schools compete against each other in various sports. Each school has its own location, mascot, and colors. They are also grouped by size by the IHSAA, which helps make competitions fair.
