Spergon Wynn III, born on August 10, 1978, is a former professional football player. He played as a quarterback in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Spergon started his journey playing college football for the Southwest Texas State Bobcats. He was later chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the 2000 NFL draft. Throughout his career, he also played for several other teams, including the Amsterdam Admirals, Minnesota Vikings, BC Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Toronto Argonauts.

Spergon Wynn's College Football Journey
Spergon Wynn began his college football career playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This team is part of the University of Minnesota. Later, he moved to play quarterback for the Southwest Texas State Bobcats. This team is now known as the Texas State University Bobcats. He played for them between 1998 and 1999.
Wynn's Performance at Southwest Texas State
During his two years with Southwest Texas State, Spergon Wynn threw for a total of 3,497 yards. This impressive number placed him sixth in the school's record books for passing yards. In 1998, he threw for 1,851 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. In 1999, Spergon was recognized for his skills. He was chosen for the All-Southland Conference second-team. That year, he threw for 1,646 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Bobcats.

Playing for the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns picked Spergon Wynn in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. He was the 183rd player chosen overall. He was the sixth quarterback selected in that draft. Interestingly, he was picked before famous quarterback Tom Brady. Wynn played for the Browns in 2000. He appeared in seven games and started one. In his time with the Browns, he completed 22 out of 54 passes. This resulted in 167 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.
Developing Skills with the Amsterdam Admirals
In the summer of 2001, Spergon Wynn was sent to NFL Europe. This league was designed to help players improve their skills. He became the starting quarterback for the Amsterdam Admirals. While playing for the Admirals, he threw for 14 touchdowns and gained 2,039 passing yards.
Time with the Minnesota Vikings
On September 2, 2001, Spergon Wynn was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. He was a third-string backup quarterback for the Vikings in 2001 and 2002. He played behind Daunte Culpepper and Todd Bouman. In the 2001 season, he played in the last three games. He even started two of them because both Culpepper and Bouman had season-ending injuries. In a game against the Green Bay Packers on December 30, 2001, Wynn threw his only NFL touchdown pass. It was a 47-yard pass to tight end Byron Chamberlain.
Moving to the Canadian Football League
After his time with the Vikings, Spergon Wynn moved to Canada to play in the CFL.
Playing for the BC Lions
Wynn joined the BC Lions in 2003. He completed 67 out of 99 passes for 894 yards. He also threw 6 touchdowns and had only one interception. Additionally, he rushed for 2 touchdowns and gained 145 yards on 36 attempts.
With the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
On April 13, 2005, Spergon Wynn was acquired by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This was part of a trade involving a conditional draft pick.
Joining the Toronto Argonauts
Spergon Wynn was traded to the Toronto Argonauts on February 22, 2006. This trade involved safety Mike Crumb.

After his football career, Spergon Wynn became an energy broker. He works with Amerex Energy Services in Houston, Texas. He is also a father to two sons, Spergon IV and Slaton.
