Story of Spirited Away

This section tells you about the main story of Spirited Away. It follows a young girl named Chihiro.

Chihiro's Journey to the Spirit World

The movie begins with a 10-year-old girl named Chihiro Ogino. She is moving to a new town with her parents. On their way, they find a mysterious tunnel. They decide to explore it.

When they pass through the tunnel, they enter a strange, magical place. It looks like an old, abandoned theme park. Chihiro's parents find a restaurant with lots of food. They start eating, but then they turn into pigs! Chihiro is now alone and scared in this spirit world.

Meeting Haku and Yubaba

Chihiro soon meets a mysterious boy named Haku. He tells her that she is in a world of spirits and gods. He explains that she must work at a bathhouse for spirits. This is the only way she can survive and save her parents.

The bathhouse is run by a powerful and scary witch named Yubaba. Yubaba makes Chihiro sign a contract. When Chihiro signs, Yubaba takes away part of her name. Chihiro is now called "Sen." This means she is now bound to work at the bathhouse.

Working at the Bathhouse

Sen (Chihiro) starts working hard at the bathhouse. She meets many different spirits and strange creatures. Some are kind, and some are not. She learns to be brave and independent.

She also tries to remember who she is and why she is there. Haku helps her, but he also seems to have his own secrets. Sen discovers that Haku is also trapped by Yubaba. She decides to help him too.

Returning Home

After many adventures and challenges, Sen solves the mystery of Haku's past. She helps him break free from Yubaba's control. She also proves her courage and kindness.

Finally, Yubaba gives Chihiro a test. If she passes, she can return to the human world with her parents. Chihiro uses her new wisdom and bravery to pass the test. Her parents turn back into humans, and they leave the spirit world. They don't remember what happened, but Chihiro does.
