A Look Back: Springfield's History
Springfield was first planned out in 1873. A veteran from the U.S. Civil War, J. D. Spearman, created the town's layout. He did this because he knew the Missouri Pacific Railroad was coming soon. The town got its name from the many natural springs nearby.

The closest hospital is Midlands Hospital. It is about 9.1 miles away in Papillion. Papillion is also where the main county courthouse is located.
