Stallikon is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is part of the Affoltern area, which is like a county or district. Stallikon is also in the canton of Zürich, which is one of Switzerland's states.

History of Stallikon
Stallikon was first written about in the year 1124. Back then, its name was Stallinchoven.
Baldern Castle History
The ruins of Baldern Castle are found within Stallikon's borders. They are located on the Albis ridge, which is a mountain range. Today, only earthworks remain, meaning you can only see the shapes in the ground where the castle once stood.
Old stories suggest that Ludwig the German, the first king of East Francia, built the castle in 853 AD. In the 12th century, the castle was owned by the Counts of Lenzburg. We don't know exactly when or why the castle was left empty. Not many archaeological studies have been done there.
Stallikon's Geography
Stallikon covers an area of about 12 square kilometers (4.6 square miles). A large part of this land is covered by forests, making up 51.3%. About 39.5% of the land is used for farming. Buildings and roads cover 8.8% of the area. The remaining small part, 0.4%, is made up of things like rivers or mountains that aren't used for building or farming.
The municipality stretches along the Albis hills and includes the Uetliberg mountain. Near these hills, you can find small villages or hamlets called Mädikon, Baldern, and Buchenegg. The middle part of the Reppisch valley is also in Stallikon. This area includes the main village of Stallikon itself, along with other hamlets like Tägerst, Gamlikon, and Sellenbüren. There are also many scattered houses throughout the area.
Stallikon's Population
Stallikon has a population of about 3,800 people (as of 2022). About 13.5% of the people living in Stallikon are from other countries. Over the last 10 years, the number of people living in Stallikon has grown by 9.5%.
Most people in Stallikon speak German, about 91% of the population. French is the second most common language, spoken by 1.9% of people. English is third, spoken by 1.7%.

In the 2007 election, the most popular political group was the SVP. They received 39.8% of the votes. The next three popular parties were:
