Star Wars: TIE Fighter is an exciting space flight simulation game released in 1994. It lets you fly cool starfighters and other spacecraft from the famous Star Wars universe. In this game, you play as a pilot for the powerful Galactic Empire, flying different missions.

Game Story

The story in TIE Fighter unfolds in several parts, each with its own adventure.

Early Missions

In the beginning, you will fly missions against the Rebel Alliance. You will also fight against space pirates and other enemies of the Empire. There is even a part where you help the Empire make peace between two groups that have been fighting.

Stopping a Traitor

Later in the game, you help uncover a secret plot. A high-ranking Admiral is planning to betray the Empire and join the Rebellion. This traitor wants to steal Imperial ships and technology. The rest of the game is about you working with the Empire to stop these traitors and protect Imperial secrets.

How to Play

In TIE Fighter, you are a skilled starfighter pilot flying combat missions.

Flying Your Ship

You usually play from the first-person view, looking out from the cockpit of your ship. However, you can also switch to a third-person view. There are many different starfighters you can fly, but some become available only as you progress in the game. For many missions, you can choose which starfighter to use and what warheads to bring along.

Mission Types

Most missions involve combat. You will fight against enemy starfighters and "capital ships." Capital ships are very large spacecraft that are tough to destroy. Missions have different goals. Sometimes you will escort supplies, scan other spacecraft, or simply hunt down enemy ships.

Space Combat

Since the game takes place in space, there is no gravity, so you can fly in any direction. Each starfighter you use has powerful laser guns. Many ships also have warheads and shields that can recharge during battle.
