Stark is a small town located in Herkimer County, New York, in the United States. In 2010, about 757 people lived there. The town got its name from John Stark, a famous general from the American Revolutionary War. You can find Stark in the eastern part of Herkimer County.

History
People started settling in the area that is now Stark before 1775. However, many residents left during the American Revolutionary War. The town of Stark was officially created in 1828. It was formed from a part of the nearby town of Danube.
Notable People
Stark has been home to some interesting people:
- Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings: She was an author who bought property in Van Hornesville. She spent time there to gather ideas for her novel, The Sojourner.
- Ray V. Pierce: He was a former member of the U.S. Congress.
- Owen D. Young: He was the person who started the Radio Corporation of America. He lived in Van Hornesville his whole life.
Geography
The town of Stark covers a total area of about 82.5 square kilometers (31.9 square miles). Only a very small part of this area, about 0.01%, is water.
The eastern edge of Stark borders Montgomery County. The southern edge of the town borders Otsego County.
A stream called Otsquago Creek flows through the town. It starts in the southwest and moves towards the northeast. This creek is a branch of the Mohawk River.
