Stefan's Early Life and School

Stefan Siegel was born in 1978. He grew up in a place called South Tyrol in northern Italy. This area speaks German.

After high school, Stefan went to the Francesco Morosini Naval School. Then, he moved to Vienna, a city in Austria. In 2004, he earned a special degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He studied international business and economics there.

Stefan's Journey in Fashion and Business

Before starting his big project, Stefan worked as a fashion model. He modeled for famous brands like Prada, Gucci, and Calvin Klein.

After modeling, he worked in finance. This means he helped manage money for companies. He worked for places like Ernst & Young. Later, he joined a big investment banking group. He learned a lot about how fashion companies work.

Stefan used all his experience to create Not Just a Label. He has also shared his knowledge at many big events. He spoke at the Condé Nast Luxury Conference. You might have seen him on TV shows like the BBC or Bloomberg TV. He also teaches at top design schools. These include Parsons and London College of Fashion. What is Not Just A Label?

Stefan started Not Just A Label (NJAL) with his brother Daniel. They came up with the idea at Stefan's home in London. They wanted a website where new fashion designers could show their work. Stefan knew a lot about fashion. Daniel was good at building websites.

NJAL began in 2008. The brothers used their own money to start it. The business became successful very quickly.

Today, NJAL helps over 35,000 designers. These designers come from more than 150 countries. NJAL has opened special temporary stores. These pop-up shops were in places like Dubai, New York City, and London. They also held a big fair in Venice, Italy, for four years. It was called Origin Passion & Beliefs.

Stefan also wants to help designers from all over the world. He especially wants to support those from less known places. He has traveled to countries like Russia, Estonia, and Lebanon. He organized events there for NJAL. In 2014, he even went to fashion week in Ukraine. He was the only person from the Western fashion world to go during a difficult time.
