History of Storden
Storden was officially planned and marked out on maps on July 8, 1903. It was named after Nels Storden, who was the first settler in the area. Nels Storden came to the United States from Norway.
The name "Storden" was chosen on March 30, 1875. It comes from the island of Stord, which is near Bergen in Norway. Stord is a large island located on the west coast of Norway, at the mouth of the Hardangerfjord.
Two important churches were also started in Storden's early days. Storden Baptist Church was founded on July 12, 1879. Amo Lutheran Church was established a few years later in 1887.
Geography of Storden
Storden is a small city in terms of its size. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers about 0.22 square miles (0.57 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
The main roads that go through Storden are Minnesota State Highway 30 and County Highway 5. These roads help people travel in and out of the community.

Schools in Storden
Storden is part of the Red Rock Central School District. This school district includes several towns in southwestern Minnesota: Sanborn, Lamberton, Jeffers, and Storden.
The Elementary School and Red Rock Central High School are both located in Lamberton. The school's mascot is the Falcon.
Before 1992, Storden's high school was combined with Jeffers to form Storden-Jeffers Senior High School. Their mascot was the Chiefs. Even earlier, before 1971, Storden High School's teams were called the "Tigers." They played against other local schools like Westbrook, Jeffers, Sanborn, Lamberton, and Walnut Grove.
Over the years, Storden's sports teams sometimes joined with other towns for certain sports. For example, from the late 1980s to 1992, Windom, Storden, and Jeffers teamed up for cross-country. For football, Westbrook and Storden-Jeffers played together as the Chargers in 1990 and 1991-1992.
