Plot Summary
Brittany Aarons (Danielle Panabaker) is a normal teenage girl. Like many others, she has a big crush on the popular pop singer Jordan Cahill (Taran Killam). But Brittany feels bored with her suburban life. She really wants something exciting to happen.
New Friends and a Mix-Up
At school, Brittany meets a new girl named Natasha Kwon-Schwartz (Brenda Song). Natasha tells Brittany she has lived in Europe and New York. Brittany's other friends don't like Natasha because she's different. But Brittany decides to become friends with her.
Brittany finds out that Jordan Cahill is filming a music video nearby. She invites Natasha to come watch with her and her friends. At the video shoot, Jordan isn't happy. He wants to sing his own songs, but his record company won't let him. After the shoot, Jordan and his team accidentally bump into Brittany and Natasha. In the confusion, Jordan's assistant, Eddie, and Brittany accidentally grab each other's cell phones.
Pranks and Discoveries
Brittany tries to return "Eddie's" phone. But she can't get into Jordan's hotel. When they finally reach Eddie, they realize Brittany has Jordan's actual phone. They demand to talk to Jordan before they return it, but Eddie refuses. Natasha then convinces Brittany that it would be fun to prank Jordan and change his image.
They call Jordan's hair stylist and tell her to cut all his hair off. They also pick out a whole new wardrobe for him. As they do this, they learn that Jordan isn't living the life he wants. His record company controls everything. At first, Jordan is scared about his new haircut. But he soon starts to like his new look. He thinks Eddie helped him break free from his old image.
The Big Rally
Eventually, the girls tell Eddie that Jordan must perform at a rally. Brittany's mom is hosting the rally to save a local landmark. The rally wasn't getting much attention before.
Jordan finally gets in touch with Brittany after Eddie tells him everything. Jordan explains his situation to her. Brittany and Natasha, who had a small fight, make up. They go to meet Jordan, while his record company tries to track his phone. The girls send Jordan's new song, "More Than Me," to everyone using Brittany's phone. They then ditch his phone and get a ride to the rally with Brittany's sister.
At the rally, Eddie tries to stop Jordan from performing. But in the end, he supports Jordan. The landmark is saved! Brittany, Natasha, and Brittany's friends become dancers in Jordan's new music video. In the video, Eddie replaces Jordan as the singer. The movie ends with Brittany and Jordan staying in touch. Jordan invites her to New York, but she says no. She tells him that things are exciting enough in her suburban town.
