Susacón is a small town and a municipality located in the Boyacá Department of Colombia. It is part of the Northern Boyacá Province. Susacón is surrounded by other towns. To its north is Soatá, and to the east are Boavita, La Uvita, and Jericó. To the south, it borders Sativanorte, and to the west, it touches the Santander municipality of Onzaga.

What is the History of Susacón?
Early History: Muisca People
Long ago, when Spanish explorers arrived in the central highlands of the Colombian Andes mountains, they found a group of people called the Muisca. These people had their own country, known as the Muisca Confederation.
Susacón was once led by a local chief, called a cacique. This chief was loyal to the cacique of a nearby town called Soatá. The cacique of Susacón even took part in an important battle against the Spanish. This battle was called the Battle of Bonza.
When Was Susacón Founded?
Even though Spanish missionaries came to the area in 1556, the town of Susacón was officially started much later. It was founded on December 18, 1809.
The name Susacón comes from the Chibcha language. It means "ally of the cacique Susa."
What Does Susacón Produce?
The main ways people in Susacón make a living are through farming and raising animals.
Farming and Agriculture
Farmers in Susacón grow many different crops. These include potatoes, maize (corn), barley, sugar cane, wheat, and bananas.
Other Economic Activities
Besides farming, people in Susacón also raise livestock like cows and other animals. Fishing is another activity, and many people create beautiful crafts.
