Muhammad Syafiq bin Ahmad, born on June 28, 1995, is a talented Malaysian footballer. He plays as a forward, which means he helps score goals. Currently, he plays for DPMM FC in the Malaysia Super League. He also represents his country on the Malaysia national team.

Early Life and Football Start

Syafiq grew up in Sungai Ara, Penang, Malaysia. From a young age, he showed great skill in football. He played for his school, Sekolah Menengah Tunku Anum Tunku Abdul Rahman, in tournaments for players under 15 and under 18.

Club Football Journey

Playing for Kedah Darul Aman

Syafiq started his professional career with Kedah in 2013. His first game was on August 20, 2013, in a 2013 Malaysia Cup match. He came into the game as a substitute in the 81st minute.

He made his first start in the Malaysia Premier League on January 24, 2014, against Perlis. Kedah won that game 4–1. Syafiq scored his first league goal on May 16, 2014, against Felda United. This goal was also the winning goal for his team.

Joining Johor Darul Ta'zim

In December 2017, Syafiq joined Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), a very strong club in Malaysia. He played his first game for JDT on January 23, 2018. This was in the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifying play-offs against Muangthong United from Thailand.

On May 8, 2019, Syafiq scored an important goal in the 2019 AFC Champions League group stage. His goal against Japanese club Kashima Antlers gave JDT their first-ever win against a Japanese team.

Loan Spells with Kedah Darul Aman

Syafiq returned to his former club, Kedah Darul Aman, on loan for the 2022 Malaysia Super League season. This happened on December 26, 2021. He played very well during this time. Because of his strong performance, JDT ended his loan early on June 15, 2022.

He went back to Kedah Darul Aman on loan again on March 5, 2024, for the 2024–25 Malaysia Super League season.

Moving to Brunei DPMM FC

On July 17, 2025, Syafiq joined DPMM FC, a club from Brunei. This move came after another club, Immigration FC, had also shown interest in him.

Playing for His Country

Youth National Teams

Syafiq played for the Malaysia U-23 team in several big tournaments. He was part of the team at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. He also helped Malaysia U-23 win a silver medal at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. In 2018, he played in the 2018 Asian Games.

Senior National Team

Syafiq made his first appearance for the senior Malaysia team on November 13, 2017. This was during a 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification match against North Korea. He scored his first goal for the senior team on March 27, 2018, against Lebanon in a qualification match.

On October 5, 2019, Syafiq scored three goals in one game, which is called a hat-trick. This happened in a friendly match against Sri Lanka, which Malaysia won 6–0.

Personal Life and Challenges

In December 2020, Syafiq was involved in a serious car accident. He, his wife, and their young daughter survived the crash.
