Sydere Creek is a small stream located in the northern part of Ontario, Canada. It flows through an area called the Cochrane District, which includes the municipality of Fauquier-Strickland and some unorganized areas. This creek is an important part of the James Bay drainage basin, meaning its water eventually makes its way to James Bay. It joins another river called the Poplar Rapids River.

The Journey of Sydere Creek

Sydere Creek starts its journey from a lake called Sydere Lake. This lake is found in a wild, unorganized part of the Cochrane District in Sydere Township.

From Sydere Lake, the creek flows mostly towards the northwest. Then, it makes a turn and flows towards the northeast. As it continues its path, it moves into the area known as the municipality of Fauquier-Strickland.

The creek's journey ends when it reaches its mouth at the Poplar Rapids River. This meeting point is very close to where the Poplar Rapids River flows into the south shore of Departure Lake.

Where the Water Goes Next

After joining the Poplar Rapids River, the water from Sydere Creek continues its long journey. The Poplar Rapids River flows into the Mattagami River. From there, the water travels into the Moose River. Finally, the Moose River carries all this water into James Bay. This entire system of rivers and lakes is part of the larger James Bay drainage basin.
