Tabor Creek is a small stream located in the southern part of Missouri, a state in the United States. It flows through two counties: Douglas County and Howell County. This area is known for its beautiful hills and forests, part of a region called the Ozarks.

About Tabor Creek

Tabor Creek is a natural waterway that plays a role in the local environment. It helps carry water across the landscape. Streams like Tabor Creek are important for the plants and animals that live nearby.

Where Tabor Creek Flows

The journey of Tabor Creek begins about six miles northwest of a town called West Plains. Its starting point is just north of Missouri Route 14, a main road. From there, the stream flows towards the southwest. It goes under Route 14 and then passes about one mile south of a small community named Grimmet.

After Grimmet, Tabor Creek turns west. It then enters the Mark Twain National Forest, which is a large area of protected woodlands. The creek winds its way west, passing about one mile south of Siloam Springs. Finally, it turns northwest and enters the southeast part of Douglas County. It continues flowing west until it joins another stream called Spring Creek. This meeting point is about half a mile north of where Spring Creek itself joins the larger North Fork River.

How Tabor Creek Got Its Name

The name "Tabor Creek" comes from a family who lived in the area a long time ago. The Tabor family moved to this part of Missouri from Kentucky before the Civil War. Naming natural features like streams after early settlers was a common practice.
