Tahchin (Persian: ته چین) is a super yummy Iranian rice dish. It's mostly made with rice, creamy yogurt, special saffron, and eggs. Often, tiny red barberries are sprinkled on top for a little tartness! Sometimes, people add other tasty things like chicken pieces, veggies, fish, or even red meat. You can also find Tahchin made with walnuts and pomegranate for a different flavor.
This dish has two main parts. The bottom part is called tahdig. It's a crispy, golden layer that usually has the chicken, saffron, and other ingredients mixed in. The top part is fluffy white rice. In many restaurants, you'll often get Tahchin without the plain white rice, so you can enjoy all that crispy goodness!
