History of Taneyville

A post office opened in Taneyville in 1894. This means people could send and receive mail there. The village got its name from Taney County, where it is located.

Geography and Location

Taneyville is in the northern part of Taney County. It sits along Missouri Route 76, a main road. The village is found between two other towns, Bradleyville and Kissee Mills.

The village is on a ridge that runs from northeast to southwest. On one side is Swan Creek, and on the other is Beaver Creek. These are small streams. Taneyville is about 1,073 feet (327 meters) above sea level.
