Early Life and Music Beginnings

Avante Ramone Brown was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 24, 1998. His mother is a spoken word artist. This means she performs poetry. He grew up moving to many different places. He believes this helped him learn to adapt and get along with people.

Brown started making music when he was 11 years old. He followed his mother's example. He wrote songs for fun and often sang them for his friends at school. Later, he joined a poetry club. There, he practiced his lyrical skills. His first time performing for a crowd felt very natural to him. This made him think about becoming a professional artist.

Music Career

After finishing school, Brown moved to Atlanta. He became serious about his rap career there. He started using the name Noviiimber. He released music with 680079 Records. He was part of a music group called Safe House Music Group. His first project, an extended play (EP) called Do or Die, was released on March 29, 2019. Later that year, he changed his name to Baby Santana. He joined a group called Dog Eat World with other local rappers.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Brown moved back to Los Angeles. He changed his stage name a third time to Tanna Leone. He then showed his music and a video he made to filmmaker Dave Free. This led to Tanna Leone signing a music deal. He joined PGLang, which Dave Free started with rapper Kendrick Lamar, and Def Jam Recordings. This happened on March 9, 2022.

After signing, Tanna Leone joined Baby Keem's Melodic Blue Tour. He was an opening act for the tour. He also released two new songs, "Lucky" and "With the Villains". A music video came out for "With the Villains". He released another song, "Picasso", on April 14, 2022. His first album, Sleepy Soldier, was released on April 27, 2022. Music critics generally liked the album.

On May 4, 2022, Leone was part of a special ad campaign for Converse. He was also featured on Kendrick Lamar's album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. He sang on the song "Mr. Morale". This song helped him get a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year. From July to December 2022, Leone toured with Kendrick Lamar on his Big Steppers Tour. This was his first time on a worldwide tour. He also appeared in the concert film about the tour.

Music Style

Tanna Leone says his music has the strong sound of a rap song. It also has the melodies you might hear in R&B or rock songs. He explained that his music does not follow any strict rules. He says it is "just something you could feel." Leone looks up to artists like Tupac Shakur, DMX, New Edition, and Kendrick Lamar. He also enjoys music from Frank Ocean, André 3000, Missy Elliott, and Billie Eilish.
