Terry Moore (born Helen Luella Koford; January 7, 1929) is an American actress. She started acting when she was a child. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Come Back, Little Sheba (1952).

Early Life and Acting as a Child
Terry Moore was born on January 7, 1929, in Glendale, California. She grew up in Los Angeles with her family.
She began acting at a very young age. Some of her first movies include The Howards of Virginia (1940) and My Gal Sal (1942). She even played a younger version of Ingrid Bergman's character in Gaslight (1944).
At first, she was known as Helen Koford. Later, she used the name "Jan Ford" for a short time.
Becoming a Star
Terry Moore's acting career really took off when she signed a contract with Columbia Pictures. She got a main role in The Return of October (1948). In this movie, her character was named Terry Ramsey, and that's how she got her stage name, Terry Moore.
She became very famous for her role in Mighty Joe Young (1949). This film was about a giant gorilla and won an Academy Award for its amazing visual effects. She also starred with Jimmy Durante in The Great Rupert (1950).

Terry Moore continued to act in many movies. She worked with Mickey Rooney in He's a Cockeyed Wonder (1950). She also appeared in Gambling House (1950) and The Barefoot Mailman (1951).
In 1952, she played Marie Buckholder in Come Back, Little Sheba. Her performance was so good that she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This is a very big honor in the movie world!
Working with 20th Century Fox
After her success, Terry Moore signed a long-term contract with 20th Century Fox. She starred in Beneath the 12-Mile Reef (1953), which was one of the first movies made in CinemaScope. This was a new way of filming that made movies look much wider. She also starred with Tyrone Power in King of the Khyber Rifles (1953).
She acted alongside Fred Astaire in Daddy Long Legs (1955). Terry Moore also appeared in many TV shows during this time, like General Electric Theater and Playhouse 90.
She continued to star in popular movies such as Bernardine (1957) and Peyton Place (1957).
Later Career in Movies and TV
In the 1960s, Terry Moore continued to be busy. She had leading roles in movies like Platinum High School (1960). She also had a regular role in the TV Western series Empire.
She made guest appearances on many well-known TV shows, including The Virginian and Batman.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Terry Moore kept acting. She appeared in films like Death Dimension (1978) and Hellhole (1985). She also guest-starred on popular TV shows like Knight Rider, Fantasy Island, and The Love Boat.
In her later career, she appeared in Murder, She Wrote and Mighty Joe Young (a remake of her earlier film). She also took on roles in the 2000s, including a guest spot on the crime series True Detective (2014) and Ray Donovan.
Personal Life
Terry Moore has been married several times. In 1951, she married American football star Glenn Davis. They divorced the next year. She later married Eugene McGrath in 1956, and then Stuart Cramer in 1959. With Stuart Cramer, she had two children, Stuart Cramer IV and actor Grant Cramer.
She also married Richard Carey in 1979 and Jerry Rivers in 1992. Her marriage to Jerry Rivers lasted until his death in 2001.
Terry Moore also had a long relationship with the famous businessman Howard Hughes. She stated that they were married in 1949, though this was a private ceremony.
