Thaddeus Jones's Political Journey
Thaddeus Jones started his career in public service as an alderman for Calumet City's 3rd ward. He held this position from 1997 to 2007. An alderman is like a city council member who helps make decisions for a specific part of the city.
Becoming a State Representative
In 2011, Thaddeus Jones began his first year as a state representative. He won the election for the 29th district seat. This role means he helps create laws for the entire state of Illinois.

Becoming Mayor of Calumet City
In 2021, Thaddeus Jones made history by becoming the first Black mayor of Calumet City.
