The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an exciting role-playing game (RPG). It was created by the American game company Bethesda. The game first came out in May 2006 for Xbox 360 and PC. A version for Sony PlayStation 3 was released in May 2007. This game is played by one person at a time. It does not have an online multiplayer mode.

This game won the "Game of the Year" award at the Golden Joystick Awards. Many video game magazines gave it high scores. For example, the official Xbox magazine in the United Kingdom rated it a perfect 10 out of 10. Players can get extra content for the game. This content can be downloaded or bought on a DVD or Blu-ray. Some special editions of the game include this extra content.
Main Story and Quests
The story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion happens after the game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The Emperor Uriel Septim VII is killed by bad guys. This happens while he is trying to escape the Imperial City. His death means that Nirn, the game's world, loses its protection. This protection usually keeps out scary creatures called Daedra. These Daedra come from a dangerous place called Oblivion. They enter Nirn through special gates that have opened.
Your main goal in the game is to find the Emperor's secret son. You must also fight off the attacking Daedra. Your most important task is to close the gates of Oblivion. This will stop the invasion and save the world.
Joining Guilds
As you play, you can join different groups called guilds. These guilds give you special tasks to complete. Once you finish all the tasks for a guild, you become its leader. Unlike some other games, you can join every guild you find in Oblivion.
Game Expansions
Oblivion has two main expansion packs. These add new adventures and areas to the game.
The Shivering Isles
One expansion is called The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles. This adds a brand new land to explore. It is a strange place ruled by a crazy god named Sheogorath. In this land, you must protect it from invading enemies called the Knights of Order. You need to stop their attacks to save the Shivering Isles.
Knights of the Nine
The other expansion is The Knights of the Nine. This expansion adds a new series of quests. It lets you go on another exciting adventure within the game's world.
