The Sims 2 facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Sims 2 is a fun video game that came out in 2004. It's the next game after The Sims. In this game, you get to control little virtual people called Sims. It's like playing with digital dolls or action figures! The game was made by Maxis and EA Games.

The Sims 2 uses cool 3D graphics, which means everything looks more real and deep. Just like the first Sims game, there are many extra packs you can add to make the game even bigger and better. A new game, The Sims 3, came out in 2009.

What's New in The Sims 2?

The Sims 2 brought lots of exciting changes compared to the first game.

Sims Grow Up!

Now, your Sims can grow through different stages of life. They start as a tiny baby, then become a toddler, a child, a teenager, an adult, and finally an elder. This means you can watch them grow up, learn new things, and even get old and pass away. In the first game, Sims stayed the same age forever! If you get the University expansion pack, there's even a "young adult" stage for Sims going to college.

Jobs and School

Careers are different now too. Sims have a work schedule, usually working 4-5 days a week. They even get paid vacation days! A special meter shows how well they are doing at work. If your Sim is happy when they go to work, they'll do better.

There are also "chance cards" at work. These cards give you a choice, and what you pick can help your Sim get a promotion, earn more money, or even get fired!

Children and teenagers have homework to do. If they finish it, their grades go up. If they don't, their grades can drop. Teenagers can also get jobs, but they need to keep their grades up or they might lose their job.

Wants and Fears

Sims now have "wants" and "fears." Wants are things they really want to do, like make a new friend or eat a yummy meal. Fears are things they are scared of, like getting fired or having a bad date. These change often, especially when a Sim wakes up or when a want or fear comes true.

Life Goals (Aspirations)

Sims also have big life goals called "aspirations." You choose one for your Sim, and it guides what they want to do. For example, a Sim with a "Family" aspiration might want to have lots of children. A Sim with a "Fortune" aspiration might want to earn a lot of money. These aspirations affect their daily wants and fears.

Family Life

Just like in real life, a mother Sim and a father Sim can have a child together. You can also create children when you first start the game, or you can adopt a child through a special service.

Visiting the Town

One of the biggest new things is that your Sims can now leave their home! They can go to "community lots" like stores, parks, or restaurants. They just need to use the phone to call a taxi to get there.

Expansion Packs

Expansion packs are like big add-ons that bring new items, places, and features to your game. They usually come out a couple of times a year. There are eight main expansion packs for The Sims 2.
