The Story of the Movie
In 2005, the evil Decepticons have taken over Cybertron. This is the home planet of the Autobots. The Autobots are hiding on Cybertron's two moons. They plan to fight back. Their leader, Optimus Prime, sends a shuttle to Earth. It goes to Autobot City for supplies.
The Battle for Autobot City
The Decepticons find out about the shuttle. Their leader, Megatron, takes it over. He kills the crew. In Autobot City, Hot Rod is relaxing. He is with his human friend, Daniel Witwicky. Hot Rod sees the hijacked shuttle. A big battle starts. Many robots on both sides are hurt.
Optimus Prime arrives with more Autobots. He defeats many Decepticons. Then, Optimus fights Megatron. Both are badly hurt. Optimus Prime is dying. He tries to give the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus. This Matrix is a powerful object. It can help the Autobots in dark times. But it falls. Hot Rod catches it and gives it to Ultra Magnus. Optimus Prime then dies.
Megatron Becomes Galvatron
The Decepticons leave Autobot City. They fly away in Astrotrain. To save fuel, they throw out their wounded. Megatron is among them. His second-in-command, Starscream, throws him out.
A giant planet-robot named Unicron finds the wounded Decepticons. Unicron eats other worlds. He offers Megatron a new body. In return, Megatron must destroy the Matrix. The Matrix can destroy Unicron. Megatron first says no. But Unicron threatens him. So, Megatron agrees. Unicron changes him into Galvatron. He also changes other wounded Decepticons. They become Galvatron's new soldiers. These are Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps.
On Cybertron, Starscream is becoming the new Decepticon leader. Galvatron arrives and kills him. Unicron then eats Cybertron's moons. This includes secret Autobot bases. Spike Witwicky is trapped there. Galvatron takes command of the Decepticons. He leads them to find Ultra Magnus. They go to the ruined Autobot City.
New Adventures for the Autobots
The remaining Autobots escape in different shuttles. The Decepticons shoot them down. They crash on different planets. Hot Rod and Kup are captured. They are taken by the Quintessons. These are cruel rulers. They feed prisoners to Sharkticons. Hot Rod and Kup learn about Unicron. They hear it from Kranix. Kranix is the only survivor of Lithone. Unicron ate his planet.
After Kranix is killed, Hot Rod and Kup escape. The Dinobots help them. A small Autobot named Wheelie also helps. He helps them find a ship to leave the planet.
The other Autobots land on the Junk Planet. The natives, the Junkions, attack them. But the Junkions stop fighting when Galvatron arrives. Ultra Magnus tries to use the Matrix. But he cannot open it. Galvatron destroys Ultra Magnus. He takes the Matrix. Galvatron now wants to control Unicron.
The Final Battle
The Autobots become friends with the Junkions. Their leader is Wreck-Gar. The Junkions rebuild Ultra Magnus. The Autobots from the Quintesson planet join them. They figure out Galvatron has the Matrix. The Autobots and Junkions fly to Cybertron.
Galvatron tries to threaten Unicron. But he cannot activate the Matrix either. Unicron gets angry. He changes into a giant robot. He starts to break Cybertron apart. Galvatron attacks Unicron. Unicron swallows him and the Matrix.
The Autobots crash their spaceship through Unicron's eye. They get separated inside Unicron. Unicron keeps fighting the Decepticons and Junkions. Daniel saves his father Spike from Unicron's insides. They also rescue Jazz, Bumblebee, and Cliffjumper.
Galvatron tries to make a deal with Hot Rod. But Unicron forces Galvatron to attack. Hot Rod gets the Matrix back. He becomes Rodimus Prime. He is the new Autobot leader. Rodimus throws Galvatron into space. He uses the Matrix's power to destroy Unicron. He escapes with the other Autobots. The Decepticons are confused after Unicron's attack. The Autobots celebrate.
