Where Does the Tia River Start and Go?
The Tia River begins high up on the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range. It starts below a place called Mount Grundy, near the town of Tia. From there, it flows generally towards the northeast.
The river eventually joins with the Apsley River. This meeting point, where two rivers come together, is called a confluence. The Tia River drops about 905 meters (2,969 feet) over its 52-kilometer (32-mile) journey. A cool fact is that it spills over the amazing Tia Falls, which are located inside the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
How People Use the River Area
The Oxley Highway crosses over the Tia River. This highway is an important road in the region.
The land above Tia Falls is very good for grazing. This means it's used to raise livestock, like cows or sheep.
