Toby Edward Heslewood Jones (born 7 September 1966) is an English actor. He is famous for playing many different kinds of characters in movies, TV shows, and plays. He trained at a special acting school in Paris from 1989 to 1991.
Toby Jones first acted on stage in 2001 in a funny play called The Play What I Wrote. This play was shown in London's West End and on Broadway in New York. His performance earned him an important award called the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. In 2020, he was nominated for another Olivier Award for his role in Uncle Vanya.
He started his film career in 1992 in the movie Orlando. He also had small parts in movies like Les Misérables (1998) and Finding Neverland (2005). He played the writer Truman Capote in the movie Infamous (2006).
Toby Jones is also well-known for his voice acting. He was the voice of Dobby the house-elf in the Harry Potter films (2002–2010). He also voiced Aristides Silk in The Adventures of Tintin (2011) and Owl in Disney's Christopher Robin (2018).

Toby Jones was born in Hammersmith, London, on September 7, 1966. His parents, Jennifer Jones and Freddie Jones, were also actors. He has two brothers.
He went to school at Christ Church Cathedral School and Abingdon School in Oxfordshire. After school, he studied drama at the University of Manchester from 1986 to 1989. Then, he continued his acting training at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris from 1989 to 1991.
