Playing in the USA: PGA Tour

On the last hole, Nicklaus showed great sportsmanship. He conceded Tony's short putt, meaning Tony didn't have to hit it. This made the match a tie. This moment is called "The Concession." Tony and Nicklaus later designed a golf course together in Florida. They named it "The Concession" to remember that moment.
In 1970, Tony won his second major championship. He won the U.S. Open by seven strokes. This win meant he didn't have to qualify for PGA Tour events for 10 years. He finished 20th in the money list that year. He also finished fifth in the 1970 Open Championship.

Tony then took three putts to finish the hole. This meant he was one shot behind. Trevino won, and Tony finished third. This moment was very tough for Tony.
Playing in Europe: European Tour
Tony played less on the PGA Tour in 1973 and 1974. He focused more on the European Tour. In 1973, he won two events: the Italian Open and the Dunlop Masters. He also finished second in three other tournaments. He was a top player on the European Tour that year. He also played in the 1973 Ryder Cup.
