Toolara Forest is a quiet place in Queensland, Australia. It's known as a "locality," which is like a small area or district. This area is split between two different local government regions: the Gympie Region and the Fraser Coast Region.

Toolara Forest is very special because it has almost no people living there. In both the 2016 and 2021 counts, it was recorded as having "no people or a very low population." This means it's mostly natural land.

Where is Toolara Forest?

Most of Toolara Forest is located within the Gympie Region. Only two small parts in the north belong to the Fraser Coast Region. It's a large area, covering about 400 square kilometers.

Roads and Connections

A main road called Tin Can Bay Road runs through Toolara Forest. This road connects the town of Gympie to Tin Can Bay. It enters the area from the southwest and leaves in the northeast.

In the northeast, there are two other important roads. The Maryborough-Cooloola Road heads northwest towards Maryborough. The Rainbow Beach Road goes southeast towards Rainbow Beach, which is right on the Pacific Ocean coast.

What the Land is Used For

Almost all of Toolara Forest is covered by the Toolara State Forest. A "State Forest" is an area of land managed by the government, often for timber production or conservation.

There's also a small part of the Great Sandy National Park here. A "National Park" is a protected area, usually for its natural beauty and wildlife. Most of this park is in the nearby area of Cooloola.

In the eastern part of Toolara Forest, along Rainbow Beach Road, you'll find the Cooloola Coast Cemetery. Other than this cemetery, there are no homes or residential areas in Toolara Forest. It's truly a place of nature and trees!
