Before becoming a pro, he played college football for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Tre Herndon's Early Life and School Years

Tre Herndon grew up in Ooltewah, Tennessee, near Chattanooga. He went to East Hamilton High School there. Tre was a talented football player in high school. In 2013, he decided to play college football at Vanderbilt University. This was a big deal because he was the first football player from his high school to get a scholarship from a Southeastern Conference (SEC) school.

College Football Career at Vanderbilt

Tre played football for the Vanderbilt Commodores from 2014 to 2017. During his time in college, he showed great skill on the field. He made 122 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players many times. He also had two interceptions, where he caught the ball thrown by the other team's quarterback. Playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars

On April 30, 2018, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Tre Herndon. This was his first professional contract. He worked hard during training camp to earn a spot on the team. He competed against several other players and proved he deserved to be there. The Jaguars named him the fifth backup cornerback.

In 2019, something big happened for Tre. The Jaguars traded their starting cornerback, Jalen Ramsey. This opened up a chance for Tre to step up. He became a starting cornerback for the team. In one game against the New York Jets, Tre had an amazing performance. He intercepted the opposing quarterback, Sam Darnold, twice! The Jaguars won that game 29–15.

In 2020, Tre continued to make plays. In a game against the Houston Texans, he recorded his first career sack. This means he tackled the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He also had a brief time on the reserve/COVID-19 list but was back playing quickly. Tre signed new contracts with the Jaguars in 2021, 2022, and 2023, showing they valued his skills.
