Willie "Tre" Herndon III, born on March 5, 1996, is an American professional football player. He plays as a cornerback. Tre has played in the National Football League (NFL). His teams include the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints. He also played college football for Vanderbilt University.

Early Life and High School
Tre Herndon grew up in Ooltewah, Tennessee. This town is near Chattanooga. He went to East Hamilton High School. Tre was a talented player in high school. In 2013, he decided to play college football at Vanderbilt University. He was the first football player from his high school to get a scholarship to a Southeastern Conference (SEC) school.
College Football Career
Herndon played football for Vanderbilt University from 2014 to 2017. After his senior year in 2017, he decided to try for the 2018 NFL draft. During his time at Vanderbilt, he made 122 tackles. He also had two interceptions, which means he caught the ball from the other team. He broke up 20 passes and caused one fumble.
Professional Football Career
Jacksonville Jaguars
In 2018, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Tre Herndon. He worked hard during training camp. He competed with other players for a spot on the team. Tre earned a place as a backup cornerback.
In 2019, the Jaguars traded their starting cornerback, Jalen Ramsey. This gave Tre a chance to step up. He became a starting cornerback for the team. In a game against the New York Jets, Tre had a great performance. He intercepted the Jets' quarterback, Sam Darnold, two times. The Jaguars won that game 29–15.
In 2020, during a game against the Houston Texans, Tre recorded his first career sack. He tackled the Texans' quarterback, Deshaun Watson. The Jaguars lost that game 27–25. Later that year, he was briefly placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He returned to play a few days later.
Tre Herndon signed new contracts with the Jaguars in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He continued to play for the team for several seasons.
New York Giants
On June 12, 2024, Tre Herndon signed with the New York Giants. However, he was released from the team on August 27, 2024.
New Orleans Saints
On October 29, 2024, Tre Herndon joined the New Orleans Saints. He was signed to their practice squad.
Personal Life
Tre Herndon's parents are Willie Herndon, Jr. and Sabrina Herndon. He also has a sister. Tre studied Sociology in college. He is a practicing Muslim.
