William Trevor Lawrence (born October 6, 1999) is an American professional football player. He is a quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). Many people thought he was one of the best young players coming out of college. He won a national championship with the Clemson Tigers in 2019. He was picked first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL draft. In 2022, Lawrence had a great season. He helped the Jaguars win their first division title and playoff game since 2017.

Early Life and High School Football
Trevor Lawrence was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on October 6, 1999. He grew up in Cartersville, Georgia. There, he played football and basketball at Cartersville High School. As a junior in 2016, he was named player of the year. He threw for 3,904 yards and 51 touchdowns. In his sophomore year, he had 3,655 yards and 43 touchdowns. As a freshman, he threw for 3,042 yards and 26 touchdowns.
From his sophomore to senior year, Lawrence led his team to 41 wins in a row. They won two state championships. He also received many national high school player awards. In 2017, Lawrence broke the state records for passing yards and touchdowns in Georgia. These records were previously held by Deshaun Watson.
Lawrence was considered one of the best high school quarterbacks ever. On December 16, 2016, he decided to play college football at Clemson University.

College Career Highlights
Freshman Year Success (2018)
Lawrence started his freshman season as a backup quarterback. But he played equally in the first few games. After four games, his coach, Dabo Swinney, made him the starting quarterback. Lawrence led Clemson to a perfect regular season. They won the ACC Championship Game 42–10.
Clemson then played in the College Football Playoff. They beat Notre Dame 30–3 in the 2018 Cotton Bowl Classic. They went on to the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship game. There, they defeated Alabama 44–16. This was a big win for Clemson. Lawrence was named the Offensive MVP of the game. He was the first freshman quarterback to start for a national champion since 1985.
Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns that season. He won the National Freshman of the Year award. He also received the Archie Griffin Award. He was named ACC Rookie of the Year too.
Sophomore Year and First Loss (2019)
Lawrence returned for his second year with the Tigers. He was expected to be a top player for the Heisman Trophy. He had some ups and downs early in the season. But he played very well in the second half. He finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Lawrence helped Clemson have another perfect regular season. They won the ACC Championship Game. This earned them a spot in the College Football Playoff. In the 2019 Fiesta Bowl, they played against Ohio State. Lawrence threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 107 yards and a touchdown. Clemson won 29–23.
They reached the national championship game for the second year in a row. But Lawrence lost his first college game in the CFP Championship Game. Clemson lost 42–25 to LSU. This ended Clemson's 29-game winning streak.
Junior Year and Top Awards (2020)
Lawrence played his junior season with the Tigers. In his first six games, he threw for 1,833 yards. He had 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions. In October 2020, Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19. He had to miss two games. Clemson lost one of those games to Notre Dame.
After he returned, Lawrence helped the Tigers get back to the ACC Championship Game. They beat Notre Dame in the rematch. Clemson then made it to the College Football Playoff again. But they lost to Ohio State in the semi-final game.
Lawrence finished his college career with 3,153 passing yards. He had 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He was named ACC Player of the Year. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. After the season, he also won the ACC Athlete of the Year award.

Before the NFL draft, many experts thought Lawrence would be the first player picked. He was compared to famous quarterbacks like John Elway and Peyton Manning. Fans of struggling teams even used the slogan "Tank for Trevor". This meant they wanted their team to lose games to get a high draft pick and choose him.
Rookie Season (2021)
Lawrence had surgery on his left shoulder before the draft. On July 5, 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked him first overall. They signed him to a four-year contract worth $36.8 million.
Before the season started, Lawrence was named the Jaguars' starting quarterback. In his first NFL game, he threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns. But the Jaguars lost 37–21. This was Lawrence's first loss in a regular season game.
Lawrence won his first NFL game in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins. He threw for 319 yards and a touchdown. The Jaguars won 23–20. This game was played in London. It was also the Jaguars' first win since 2020, ending a 20-game losing streak.
He finished his rookie season with 3,641 passing yards. He also had 17 interceptions, which was the most in the league.
Breakout Season (2022)
After losing the first game, Lawrence won his next two games. He threw for 497 yards and five touchdowns combined. He also earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. The Jaguars then had a five-game losing streak. But they ended it with a Week 9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Lawrence helped them come back from being behind at halftime.
After that, the Jaguars won seven of their last nine games. Lawrence threw for 2,273 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. He led a game-winning drive against the Baltimore Ravens. He also helped his team come back from 17 points down to beat the Dallas Cowboys. In Week 14, he was named AFC Player of the Week again. In the last game of the season, Lawrence helped the Jaguars win their division title. This was their first division title since 2017.
In the playoffs, Lawrence threw four interceptions in the first half against the Chargers. But he came back strong in the second half. He threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns. The Jaguars won 31–30. This was the third-largest comeback in NFL history. The next week, they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lawrence finished the 2022 season with 4,113 passing yards. He had 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. These were all big improvements from his rookie year. He was chosen as an alternate for the 2023 Pro Bowl. He was the first Jaguars quarterback to make the Pro Bowl since 2009.
Dealing with Injuries (2023)
In the first game of 2023, Lawrence helped the Jaguars win 31–21. He threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 4, he led the team to a 23–7 victory in London. The next week, also in London, he threw for 315 yards and a touchdown. The Jaguars beat the Bills 25–20.
In Week 6, Lawrence sprained his left knee. But he still played the next week and helped the team win. In Week 13, he sprained his ankle. He left the game and did not return. Despite the ankle injury, he played the next week.
Lawrence suffered a shoulder injury in Week 16. He missed his first NFL game in Week 17. In his return in Week 18, the Jaguars lost and missed the playoffs. He played 16 games and dealt with four different injuries that season. He finished with 4,016 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Recent Season (2024)
On April 29, 2024, the Jaguars kept Lawrence for another year. On June 14, 2024, Lawrence signed a new five-year contract. It was worth $275 million. This made him one of the highest-paid players in NFL history at that time.
After the Jaguars started 0–4, Lawrence threw for a career-high 371 yards. He had two touchdowns in Week 5. The team won 37–34 on his 25th birthday. In November, Lawrence hurt his left shoulder. He missed the next two games. He returned in December but left the game with a concussion. He was then placed on injured reserve.

Personal Life
Lawrence is Baptist. He is known for his long blond hair. His older brother, Chase, is an artist. Trevor has posed for his brother's artwork. On April 10, 2021, Lawrence married Marissa Mowry. They had been dating since high school. In June 2024, they announced they were expecting their first child.
