Journey of Tripoli Creek
Tripoli Creek starts its journey at West Tripoli Lake. This is where the creek begins, high up at about 424 meters (1,391 feet) above sea level.
Flowing North and East
From West Tripoli Lake, the creek flows towards the northeast. It passes underneath the Canadian Pacific Railway's main train line. This railway is a very long track that crosses Canada! The creek flows between two small places: Amyot to the west and Girdwood to the east. Girdwood is only about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) away.
Reaching Tripoli Lake
After flowing under the railway, Tripoli Creek reaches another body of water called Tripoli Lake. The creek continues its journey northeast from there.
Meeting Ryerson Creek
As Tripoli Creek flows, it gets a little bigger when another small stream, called Ryerson Creek, joins it from the right side.
Ending at Esnagi Lake
Finally, Tripoli Creek reaches its end, or "mouth," at Esnagi Lake. Esnagi Lake is part of the Magpie River system. At this point, Tripoli Creek is at a lower elevation of about 347 meters (1,138 feet) above sea level.
What are Tributaries?
A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger stream or river. Think of it like a branch joining a bigger tree trunk.
