The Turkvision Song Contest (TSC), also known as the Türkvizyon Song Contest, is a music competition. It was created by the Turkish music channel TMB TV. The idea for the contest came from the famous Eurovision Song Contest.
The very first Turkvision Song Contest happened in Eskişehir, Turkey, in December 2013. Countries and regions where Turkic languages are spoken or where Turkic people live could join the contest. The last contest was held online on December 20, 2020, from Istanbul, Turkey. After that, some planned contests were cancelled. The future of the Turkvision Song Contest is currently uncertain.

History of the Contest
The Turkvision Song Contest was created by TÜRKSOY and TMB TV. It was inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest. While Eurovision focuses on European countries, Turkvision was made for countries and regions with Turkic connections.
How the Contest Works
Countries and regions that wanted to join had to take part in a Semi-Final. A judge from each country gave points (1 to 10) to every song, except their own. About 12 to 15 nations then moved on to the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, the judges chose the winner. TÜRKSOY had plans to let viewers vote in the future, but this never happened.
The country or region that hosted the contest was usually the one chosen as the Turkic Capital of Culture for that year. It was not always the country that won the previous year.
Recent Plans and Cancellations
In November 2020, there were hopes to hold the 2021 contest in Shusha, Azerbaijan. This was confirmed by the contest's general coordinator. However, it was later said that the 2021 contest would be in Turkistan, Kazakhstan. But the 2021 contest did not happen.
In February 2022, there was an announcement that the 2022 contest would be in Fergana, Uzbekistan, in June. This also did not happen. TÜRKSOY then said the contest would move to Bursa, Turkey, later that year, but this did not happen either.
On April 19, 2024, Gunesh Abasova, who was a judge in 2020 and involved since 2013, shared exciting news. She said on social media that the contest is planned to return in 2024. She mentioned that a music video for her new song would be shown at the "large-scale competition Turkvision 2024."
Who Participates
Countries and regions with Turkic-speaking people or Turkic heritage can compete. Examples include Crimea, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Turkey.
Twenty-four countries and regions took part in the first contest in 2013. Some areas, like Chuvashia, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Xinjiang, planned to join in 2013 but later pulled out.
Some regions showed interest but never officially joined. For example, Russia's Omsk Oblast broadcast the 2014 contest, but they never said they would participate. A group from Kalmykia, another Russian region, attended the 2015 contest but did not compete.
