Tweezy's Early Life and Music Journey
When Tumelo Mathebula was six years old, he moved to Johannesburg. This was after his parents passed away. In high school, when he was in grade 10, he found a music software called FL Studio. At first, he thought it was just a "music making game." Soon, he realized it was a real tool for creating music.
Starting Out in Music
Tweezy joined a music group called "Ghetto Prophecy." There were eight members in this group. In 2011, their song "Oh My" became very popular. It reached number 16 on the Top 40 songs list for YFM radio. The song was also played often on other big radio stations like Metro FM and 5FM. Sadly, the group broke up because they didn't have enough money to keep going. After that, Tweezy decided to focus on making music as a producer by himself.
Becoming a Top Producer
Tweezy quickly became known for his amazing production skills. In 2014, he was nominated for "Producer of the Year" at the SA Hip Hop Awards. The next year, in 2015, he won the "Producer of the Year" award at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2015. Hype Magazine, a popular hip hop magazine, also named him "Producer of the Year."
He then released his very first song as a solo artist, called "Ambitions." This song was a big hit, reaching number two on YFM's Urban Top 40 chart. Later, he made a new version of "Ambitions." This remix featured famous artists like South African rapper Khuli Chana, Nigerian artist Ice Prince, and singer-songwriter Victoria Kimani.
